The Davis barn, late of Streetsboro Rd. Richfield Village, is now under re-construction. The barn, which stood on the Lloyd Davis farm for approx. 150 yrs., was saved from destruction last fall when new owners of the property wanted it removed. While we were working on disassembling the barn, we found a number of interesting objects under the original floor. They included a rare Richfield milk bottle, pottery crocks and a toy cast iron policeman on his motorcycle. Also while disassembling the barn, a section of the roof fell on me. It would have been quite an eye opening experience, if I had been conscious. As it was, I awoke with a somewhat better idea of why guys wear hard hats on construction sites.

As is apparent from the picture, a number of beams in the barn were in too poor a condition to be used in the re-construction and were replaced by new beams cut in the museum’s sawmill. When finished, the barn may house the barrel making and shingle making shops.
